Ingredients
- 8 your choice of baking apples
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (preferably amber syrup for its rich taste)
- 3 tablespoons ground almonds
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/4 cup maple sugar flakes
Method
- Peel apples, core and quarter.
- In a frying pan, melt butter, and gently fry apples for about 3 minutes until golden in color.
- Add cream and maple syrup and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
- Place apples in four small gratin dishes or one large one.
- Mix almonds with oats and maple sugar flakes; sprinkle over apples and bake at 375 °F for 4 minutes, then broil for 1 minute to gently brown the top.
